Submission Checklist
Work through this before you upload. Every item here is checked at technical screening.
Required files
- Manuscript — DOCX, anonymised, within the word limit for the category
- Title page — separate file, with names, affiliations, ORCID iDs, email and the corresponding author
- Figures — each as a separate file, 300 dpi or better, where the article has any
- Permission letters — where any third-party or identifiable material is used
- Response letter — on resubmission only
The manuscript
- Original work, not published elsewhere and not under consideration by another journal
- My name removed from the text and from the document properties
- Tracked changes and comments cleared
- Abstract of 150–250 words and five to seven keywords
- Sanskrit in IAST, in Unicode; no legacy fonts
- Every substantial quotation carries a translation
- Primary texts listed separately from secondary literature, with editions given
- Every in-text citation appears in the reference list, and every entry is cited
- DOIs supplied where they exist
- Tables as editable text; figures numbered and captioned with source lines
Required declarations
- Originality and no simultaneous submission
- Authorship — all listed contributors qualify, and none who qualifies is omitted
- Conflict of interest, or a statement that there is none
- Funding, with grant numbers
- Use of AI tools, per the AI Use Policy
- Ethics and informed consent, for field or interview material
Permissions, where applicable
- In-copyright text quoted at length
- Manuscript and archival images
- Maps, diagrams and figures reproduced from another work
- Photographs of identifiable people, with consent covering open-access publication
- Material held by a temple, maṭha, institution or private collection
Final check before submission
- Open the manuscript on another machine and confirm the diacritics render.
- Read the document properties one more time.
- Confirm the article category and that the word count is within its limit.
- Confirm the corresponding author's email is one you will read for the next six months.
- Confirm every co-author has seen and approved the version you are about to submit.
